Why poplar?

• Poplar reproduce themselves easily vegetatively: Clones, homogeneous plantations, homogeneous timber.
• Poplars have very short explotation shifts. High profitability.
• Promotes natural hybridization, hybridization control: new clones.
• Grow on the banks of the rivers or where there is abundant water.
• Thanks to their ability to reproduce, poplars settle/colonize the land. Cannot compete.
• Need for light. Phototropism, reduced apical dominance. Need pruning.
